Here I am again rambling about some gloves I own to show differences between each other.
My favorite is the Reyes, hands down. Great review!
Comparing these three gloves, is like comparing apples, oranges, and bananas, in my opinion. They have no similarity at all. I think a better comparison would be Grant, Reyes, and Everlast Pro Leather, all at 16oz, if using them for sparring in boxing. A great comparison for Thai boxing, in my opinion, would be Fairtex, Twins, Top King, and Boon, all at 16 oz, for Thai sparring. I don't know who spars with 14oz gloves, or lighter, over 16oz gloves, but it wouldn't happen at our gym. We are not out to kill each other, while sparring. The most common sets of gloves are 16oz for sparring/12oz for bag work – or – two pair of 16oz gloves, one for sparring, and one for bag work. Every gym is different though. These two weight options are just overwhelmingly common, for these two purposes, sparring and bag work. All the best!! Just my opinion!! 🙂
Hi robert4fun58I used to weight 56kg (currently just under 54kg) and I'm not a heavy hitter in sparring, I think I can use 14oz gloves safely. My rule of tumb is 16oz for 60kg and over, but is ok 14oz for under 60kg, that's me. I know most gym recommend or have mandatory 16oz.The comparison of different gloves is done on purpose because people often don't know differences of brands and types of gloves. I think is good to point out differences so that people have a better understanding of what they need or want to buy.
BOON all the way! i have used them for 2-3 years and they are worn but still good on the heavy bag! i weigh 185lbs and really like the BOON for the price. Reyes should not be graded against the two other gloves.
I am 183 cm(6 ft) tall and i weight 92 kg(202 lb).Which gloves are better for me(just training),12 oz or 14 oz?
what!? I love my boon gloves! hehe, in anycase, I just commented to say that I really despise breathable gloves, they just seem to always fall apart faster!
I have some fairtex 14oz lace up have 2 year with them really good gloves but after ibought cleto reyes i will go with cleto lace up for sparring…awesome gloves…i like boon but it depends what you use them for boon never bought them but i used them before and they are really good but itdepends wich one fits you better and feels better when you punch
no kidding the reyes has a longer cuff than the fairtex because the fairtex is a muay thai glove and the reyes is a boxing glove. They are 2 different styles dude, 2 completely different gloves for 2 different combat sports
and for everyone saying "i like reyes better" youre fucking stupid. Theres a difference between boxing and thai fighting, im trained in both of them so i know the difference
this whole video is stupid and the guy who posted it doesnt know what hes talking about
I'm weighing around 165lbs, 5'10" and want to get these in a Medium (14oz but come out almost 16oz as you say), and want them for training with pads and heavy bag with my personal trainer – would Medium be a good size? BTW – This is the best video I've found for these particular Cleto gloves, thanks for posting.
Hello i want to ask u about the Cletos i am about ordering them in large and in their site they say that large is 18oz and it also shows them bigger than yours but i want them to be fit how u found the hand compartment in those was it tight or loose because i do not have big hands thank u.
The everlast powerlocks are pretty good too, they're about 150 bucks
i choose BOON , is the best between and i paid low price from a shop online in thailand, are very hard padding, punch hard guys….
Ofcourse the glove is heavier then what the oz say. the oz is what the padding weighs.. not what the glove weighs.
talk into the mic for god sake!
I really like how the Clitoris glove is a hybrid with laces and Velcro strap.
im 6'3" 165. My hand size is about 8 3/4 inch. What would be a good ounce size mainly for a banana bag or heavy bag
Noob question. What is a "mexican style glove" What that mean compared to "regular" glove? What are the caracteristics? I did some google search but still dont understand well. I ask because i want to buy some reyes. Thx.
The cleto reyes is shit expensive
check the fairtex bgv9 Mexican style .make a video if you buy this gloves .thanks
I bought a new pair of Fairtex Aura gloves today after trying on many pairs and a few different brands and testing them on the bag, the padding was quite firm compared to the others but felt like they protected my hands the best, though it would suck to be the sparring partner on the other end. I weighed them when I got home they are a 16 ounce glove, one weighed in at 15.9 ounces and the other was 15.6 ounces, I was impressed that they were so close to weight, as some other gloves that have been reviewed were quite far off stated weight.
